The Problem with the "Waiting List" Practice

It has long been my observation that the terms "Waiting List" and "Referrals or Word of Mouth Only" continue to be inappropriately lauded in multiple "chiros talking to other chiros only" Facebook comment 💭 threads.

It continues to blow my mind 🤦‍♂️ that people carry the perspective that these things are "net net" good and makes their practice more awesome 🤩 and exceptional than those who continue to brand, market 📣 , and push the message out to their community full of sick, subluxated, suffering people who desperately need our help!

Which is my first major problem with this perspective -- while having a referral only + waiting list practice for sure makes for an easier life on the chiropractor and practice, meaning way less hours, effort, and work -- it also means said person is ok 👌 with prospective kids, families, and parents in their community staying subluxated and suffering longer than needed.

And when it comes to kids, one ☝️ more month subluxated and with a neurological dysfunction can have years worth of consequences. So this may be cool 😎 for the chiro and make them feel proud when pounding the keyboard ⌨️ in these prideful FB chats, it's NOT good for the child, family, or community.

Second, this is just awful business practice.

We continue to judge our business acumen in this profession only against others in the chiro profession, who for a LONG time now have clearly, collectively sucked at building real, actual brands + businesses.

We keep the One 1️⃣ Million Dollar 💵 Practice as the "pinnacle" of achievement in the business landscape of chiropractic, while in the world of REAL business... this would put us sitting at the kids table out in the garage at Thanksgiving dinner eating cut up hot dogs 🌭 and drinking juice 🧃 boxes while the real business folks eat well inside!

NO ONE who knows how to actually build a business would ever want to LIMIT the growth of their business by relying on word of mouth or referrals only, and having a waiting list!

If you're so good to maintain your practice on referrals only, imagine what would happen if you poured gasoline ⛽️ on the fire 🔥 with some simple marketing action -- social media, videos 🎥 , workshops, and community networking 🤝 .

None of this is complicated or difficult, it's just chiropractors who make it complicated or difficult.

If you don't want to market or grow as a leader so you can have the # of New Patients and # of Team Members required to grow and scale 🚀 , and you lack the drive, passion, purpose, and skillset to do those things... how about admitting that in the thread and being honest with what's really behind the limited growth instead of acting prideful about it?

WHAT DOES EVERYONE ELSE THINK 💭 ABOUT THIS IF YOU REALLY OPEN THE HOOD ON IT AND LOOK DEEPER AS TO WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON?
