It's Easy to Show Up for the EASY Ones...But We NEED to Show Up for the HARD Ones Too!

A few years back, I started documenting more of the incredibly meaningful experiences I get to have as a CA. From the peaks and high points of being a Care Advocate to the lowest pits we experience, I have bared my soul here on these pages. And of all the things I have shared and experienced, the one being shared today is and will always be my favorite.

The position we are in as Care Advocates and Chiropractors is one of the most precious divine appointments one can have in this life.

We come alongside people during the worst times in their lives, and we get to be part of their path to healing. This means that we often experience people when they are at their worst, whether that be physically, spiritually, emotionally, or all of the above.🌪

It can be tough. They can be tough.

This week we have connected with some of the most complex cases we have taken on to date. Patients that have endured traumas and diagnoses that are almost unfathomable.

And many of them have been tough in more ways than one.

I always love coming back to this entry from a few years back to help me stay grounded when I am challenged by our work.

I’ll never forget the day this picture was drawn for me. One of the most difficult cases we’ve had, EVER, at PWC drew it for me during a ROF with her mom. I remember thinking I would keep it forever as I never wanted to lose touch with what it represented. 💕

That day Mom told me how she felt the world saw her daughter and what she KNEW about her daughter. K sat there drawing and chiming in to tell me how drawing helped her feel calm and happy, reciting names of animals and creatures she dreamt up to draw.

Providing care for K was a challenge.

She needed a lot of care for a long time. Sometimes she needed special accommodations in the office, she’d physically refuse to come in from the car. If her PANDAS started to flare she would regress with a huge pendulum swing. She’d say things no little girl wants or intends to say. She was mean, really mean, and sometimes physical. It was difficult to watch her experience these things. Chiropractic was astoundingly helpful for her. To this day her progress and miracles under chiropractic care Blow. My. Mind.

K provided us with something that was such a gift. **CONTRAST. **🙌 Our whole team had to work for her wins. We had to be the best freaking versions of ourselves because THAT IS WHAT HER CASE DEMANDED. They need and demand of us that we be ALL IN, ON OUR GAME AND WILLING TO DO THE WORK. 💥

I keep this drawing as a reminder that it’s easy to love the easy ones….heck we all love when we get those early and frequent wins. But we and our teams NEED TO SHOW UP just as ready and excited about the hard ones!
