Believe in Your Team & Watch Them Embrace the Squirm

Our team has an incredible CA who has been learning how to present financials. ๐Ÿ™Œ

We have been reminded of many great lessons during this training season!

Training time is a learning time for more than just the student. It’s learning time for the teacher too. As a teacher, trainer, and leader, it’s important to gauge the proper timing of when our team member is “ready enough” to start flying ๐Ÿฆ‹solo. And also when to be pushed to the next level of competence.

So often, in our desire to protect ourselves from discomfort (what if the patient says no?), we handhold team members for too long.

And it’s not helpful, in fact, it makes them feel even less ready than they actually are.

All kinds of events and patient experiences in the healthcare space happen outside of these walls, influencing how new patients perceive us, our work, and our mission.

Sadly, sometimes, these experiences can mean that they are wary of us, our joy, our care, and our process. That can look like reluctance, being closed off at first, or even being slightly short with us.

Recently we had a ROF that we knew might take some extra layers of communication, patience, and empathy. And we intentionally had our new CA present these financials. She was ready for the next level of her training.

After the ROF, we worked together to process the payment in full and schedule, ensuring she had everything correct. Her work was impeccable.

โœจShe was absolutely beaming with accomplishment. โœจ

This is the exact formula for building strong leaders and confident team members. We equip them, believe in them, and support them while they learn to embrace the squirm.
And then you get messages like this at the end of the day.

“Just wanted to say thanks for believing in me today! ๐Ÿ’—”
